Travelodge Bristol Central is close to Harbourside in the 'Floating Harbour' with its gentrified old warehouses, turned into Restaurants, Bars, Casinos, Museums, Hotels and flats.

Evening - Wetherspoon's of course, LLoyds No1 V Shed for their Curry evening which was both delicious and exellent value (free pint included !)       LLoyds No1 V Shed packed with students and late-on very noisy.

Friday - Getting to know the Floating Harbour day. Walk & Ferry to the Locks and then on to IKB's Clifton Suspension Bridge. Some climbed the Avon George to the Bridge. (Chris disappeared and was not seen again until evening !)   Walk to The Cottage Inn.     Then on to IKB's magnificent SS Great Britain.

Well earned pint at The Cottage Inn.

SS Great Britain setout to create as she was on the Atlantic runs on the 'Weather' (top) deck and as she was for her Australian runs on the other decks.

Great illusion as she appears to be floating - but it is only 5mm of water!

Home by Ferry around the Floating Harbour.

Evening meet at the The Old Royal Navy Volunteer in King Street , the place is packed but the beer undrinkable, we have to move on to another watering hole.

Eat at the rather upmarket Italian style Aqua restaurant who provide for us another exellent meal.

Saturday sees us exploring the Cheddar Gorge. Visit Gough's Cave, being old we are offered free coffee and cake at Costa's. Now on to Chew Stoke and a real pub. The Stoke Inn which has a Pub Shove Ha'penny league and Long Alley Skittles.

Back to Bristol across the Clifton Suspension Bridge and then panoramic views of the Avon Gorge.

Some now go mistakenly for a Cream Tea.    Chris is again missing and not seen again till morning !
Stan and Dave watch Leeds beat Wigan at Rugby League whilst the rest of the world are watching Ireland beat France at Rugby Union.

A very special evening's eating at the amazing 'Eat as much as you like'  'Za Za Bazaar ' which features food from all corners of the World.      -terrific !
A happy group at Harbourside

Brian has produced the most researched and planned weekend trip we have ever had.  Including even the weather - not a drop of rain.

Sadly Ron Curwen died two months ago.
